We will be in the Yosemite area end of this week. Does anyone have any park suggestions for big rigs that are not too far away from the park entrances ... and suggestion on which of the 5 entrances are better?
Thanks in advance ... and ... if you find yourself heading to Cape Cod, MA sometime...
Re: EVENT: Heartland Chapter Rally: MA, Shelburne Falls - 7/10/2020 to 7/12/2020
We have just set out from Cape Cod on a 2 -2 1/2 month expedition to see more of this great USA. The YELLOW route is the one we are taking this trip ... going out west on the Great Northern Trail and hitting many...
Re: EVENT: Heartland Chapter Rally: MA, Shelburne Falls - 7/10/2020 to 7/12/2020
The Van Wickles are in . . . as well as those SOB's Dan & Debbie Staples that have always joined our MA rallies.
Can't wait to re-connect with all you OLD friends ... :)
I used Timbrens on my last F250 and loved them. Never had to think about airing up and down or springing a leak! It's like having a 350 ride when you need it and a 250 ride when you don't.
X2 .... This Blink system is awesome ... so easy to use .... so portable .... so wireless ... great day and night pics. I have 3 interior ones on my home and 1 exterior one. I also have them at my Nova Scotia property .... and keep one in the RV too. Motion activated / sends text alert to...
We have used American Home Base Mail Service out of Pensacola, Florida for the past 11 years and they are great.
Cost ... $10 to join and $10/month when you are using it ... you can turn it on and off with a phone call.

Planning on changing out the kitchen pull down sprayer faucet assembly. Is it correct to assume that the plumbing fixtures in our RVs (Big Horn here) are all standard fittings and I can purchase one from Home Depot / Lowes and install without an issue?
Thanks
Oh gosh, flow through valves have been around a long time from other providers as well ... like the TST507RV ... or ones by TireSafe ... or EEZTIRE. Pays to shop around. Glad you like your system. Safe travels.
Ours was starting to put out a bad mildew odor ... I did what Chiefneon did ... my service provider took them both off the roof and cleaned them.
Now when I clean the filters inside I spray some Lysol up there while the a/c is running and sucking it through the coils (if that actually helps...
Had the identical problem with my 2014 Big Horn. After replacing the Anderson valve thinking that was the problem (Heartland sent me a free one) ... the culprit was the check valve in the water pump. Rather than but a new water pump, the quick cheap fix was to but an inline check valve at...
IMHO ... the absolute best place to get your sunscreens is from Beasley, Mfg. They run out of a warehouse outside of Orlando and have a terrific selection with by far the best price you'll find around. Bought a 16'er x 7' for $77 ... as well as 16' x 8' (2 4'ers to adjust width easily) floor...
Sweet ~ great info all. We altered the route somewhat. Will still do most all of Route 2 across the country and take your advise. Instead of Oregon Trail we are now going to follow Route 101 along the west coast from WA to San Francisco (everyone tells us not to miss that ride while out...
Thanks Uncledon ... good info, and yes...we like to stay off the main highways and absorb the country as we go ... not making reservations until maybe the day before. Thanks for the campground info ...
Hauled a 38'er around the country on my 2009 Ford shortbed. Bought the slider hitch under recommendations. In 5 years of use I only needed the slider twice, both times getting into my sister's street in NY !! Otherwise, if I needed to, I simply pulled forward and back once or twice ...
Have had 2 rigs without a reel ... ordered the reel on 2014 Big Horn and would not be without one again! Have had zero problems and it sure makes life easier ... especially if in cooler weather ... plus, that dang 50amp one is heavy!! Order the reel and you'll be ;)
Mine hardly ever pop .... but they did start popping last week in the night. I simply went outside, hit the auto level button again ... they did a quick update releveling and VOILA ... popping was gone and hasn't returned.
Working on a cross country trip on the Great Northern Trail ... from east coast across Route 2 all the way to Washington ...
Then returning eastward along the Oregon Trail ... or as close to it as you can follow.
Anyone done either of these trails and have any helpful information?
Thanks
Took and awesome tour of the US from east coast to west and back. If anyone would like a copy of our detailed itinerary (route to take, things to see, RV parks to stay in, great dining along the way) feel free to message me with your email and I will send you our itinerary to play with.
We...
Had this same problem on my 3685 ... drove me nuts for awhile. Then I looked in the basement and found that I had knocked the electrical plug to the inverter out ...which was a rather loose fit. Plugged it back in and VOILA !!
Our Big Horn is currently at Lazy Days in Tampa ... installing all new carpeting throughout for a fresh new look. The cheaper loop carpeting that came with it does not hold up to a Shepherd's toe nail catching in the loops and pulling! So, higher grade cut pile carpet it is :)
Also have them...
As good fortune would have it, our timing of the rally in Falmouth could not have been better. It just so happens that the 23rd, 24th & 25th are the dates of the 47th Annual Cape Cod Scallop Festival ... held at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds, which happens to be 3 1/2 miles from our campground...
To the Woods Hole Ferry ... Steamship Authority ... 11 miles
To the Falmouth Harbor Ferry ... Island Queen ... 5 miles
Both about 35 minutes across
Both about $20 pp round trip + $15 parking
I'll have brochures / schedules with me ... one may have a schedule you like better than the other
Made a stand for my double canister water filter system. Now it doesn't keep falling over on the ground, even though they still work fine laying down. May repaint later ... this was the only paint handy in the workshop!
Here's more info on Things To Do Around Cape Cod ... to give you some ideas and distances from Falmouth.
As I work for the Chamber of Commerce here, I will have lots of brochures and info with me and will set up an info table for you. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have to...
Made an appointment with Lazy Days in Tampa, FL to store our 2014 Big Horn for 2+ months (taking down in mid October from Cape Cod) until we return after Christmas for the winter. While there they will be replacing ALL of our carpeting, getting rid of the lower quality loop carpet for a better...
I pretty much follow the factory's suggestion. While there taking a factory tour I asked the "cleaning question" for my new full body paint job ... and was referred to the paint division who gave me their guidelines ... which Heartland has also posted on this website under the Heartland Users...
I now use the Good Sam Rand McNally GPS ... it's great. You simply program in your RV details/measurements, etc. and you get all the warnings you need. It is programmed by 2 RVers at Rand McNally and they know what to program into it. This thing is made for RVers !! Check it out ...
I know what you mean ... we have 2 awnings ... the main 18'er and an 11'er over the remaining side. I use similar awning "hooks" that John shows and it is easy to reach and install on the 11'er. Not so on the 18'er. So far (2 years) we have been fortunate enough to have a picnic table near by...
We are back from an awesome 2 month voyage with our BH3685 ... out I-10 from FL to CA exploring the entire month of March ... back I-40 from CA to east coast the entire month of April exploring. What an awesome country we had, and we slid between any and all storms perfectly! Big Horn now...
I stopped using the Walmart blue filters last year. They not only quickly limited water flow/pressure but they really did not filter out all I would like to see them filter. We even had to stop using that water for our dog (German Shepherd) as the water frequently gave our dog the runs, and we...
IMHO ... I do not think you beat this company's product quality and especially price ... in Florida.
http://www.beasleymfg.com/beasleymfg.com/Welcome.html
If you are in Florida go to their warehouse and pick whatever color/shade you want. Made for you on the spot. Don't pay Camping World...
Re: ATF: Landmark - Add Awning - Not toppers
Ditto x2 ... we ordered ours with our factory order. Definitely a big plus. By the way ... nice rig :) we have the same paint job and look as yours with our 3185
