    It's been a while!

Hey there old Heartland Friends. I can't believe it's been over a year since my last visit to the forum. A lot has changed in our lives but I'll never regret our decisions. Since we've sold the Bighorn, we've bought a mobile home in Sebring, FL and had a great time this past winter. We were even...

    Taking a Break

Hey there fellow Heartland Forum Members. After giving it some serious thought, I've decided to step away from being a Forum Moderator. Those of you who have been here a while may have noticed a lack of activity from me for the last month or so. There is no specific reason, I just felt it was...

    2004 Silverado 3500

Lin & I have decided to stop traveling and will be leaving the Bighorn in FL during the summer. That said, the dually is up for sale. Here is a LINK to the Craigslist posting. The truck is in great shape and has been well maintained. Recent batteries and 2 new tires in front. Injectors replaced...

    Unusual Roof Vent?

We had some hail come through last weekend and had a little damage. The shower skylight and front A/C shroud are on order. What I can't seem to find is a match for one of the vents. In the picture with the cover and diverter removed, I can't really tell the diameter of the pipe. I'm wondering if...

    RV Washing Blue Beacon

I know several of you folks have used Blue Beacon to clean up the RV after or during trips. I just called and got a price of $44 for a basic wash for truck & trailer and $65 for wash & wax. Great prices I think. My question, how much to tip?

This is a question for those of you having exposure to inductive cook tops or ranges. How does it compare to LP or Natural Gas? Thanks!

I met some HOC Members today

Actually yesterday. Mike & Alice from the Nashville area pulled into Suncoast RV Park yesterday with their Bighorn 3670. They are exploring potential parks for next winter. There are now 4 Bighorns and 1 Landmark in the park.

    Caulk in reefer access compartment.

Yesterday I washed the rig and noticed below the fridge access panel had a small bubble on the wall. I pulled the panel and determined the large area of silicone they used between the panel frame and the floor of the compartment looked a little damp. I was able to easily able to remove the...

    Started the Brake/Bearing Job

For starters, I'm only working on one side of the trailer at a time due to not having enough equipment to properly support both sides elevated. I pulled one wheel initially to verify the bearing numbers. My intent is/was to replace all bearings, races, seals and the brakes. I have purchased the...

    Suzi is Resting in Peace

We knew this day would come and to be honest, we thought it would have been much sooner. Our Suzi almost made her 16th birthday. Her hearing was gone and her vision was very limited. I think this is the first pet we’ve ever lost to old age. Lin & I took her to the vet this morning and I held her...

    Progressive Renewal Skyrockets

I just received our renewal notice for the Bighorn. Two years ago our annual rate was $556, last year $612 and this coming year $751. Ammo availability?

So how are things in your area? Here in central Wisconsin, it seems most shelves are bare when in comes to 38, 9mm, 40 and 45 calibers. Most rifle and shotgun ammo seems OK. One pawn shop has a few boxes of 9mm at $25/box of 50. Talk about gouging.

Well it's official. Lin & I have turned in our Illinois licenses and are now Wisconsin Residents once again. It's good to be back. Truck plates are due this month. There goes a few hundred to the state.

    Bighorn Down, 2 G614's gone

Pictures later. Made it from Hilton Head as far as Exit 125 on I-26. Lost the tread on the right rear, put on the spare in a rest area. We got a few miles down the road and lost the 2nd tire on the same side. Currently waiting for the tire guy. Bringing out 2 Hercules LR-F @ $317 for both...

    Old HP Died R.I.P.

Well, not quite dead but a problem with the display. A shaded portion all the way across and up about 2 inches from the bottom of the screen. Hard to see through it. New HP with Windows 8. Not liking it so far. Downloaded Firefox and it's not working like it did with Vista. The screen...

Leaving in the AM and Neighbor with new Landmark

Well we've finished all the PM's, waxed the rig and are ready to head to Williston in the morning. Our neighbor here in Port Richey was a Bighorn owner last year but when we arrived last fall, he was the new owner of a 2013 Cardinal. Nice rig but he was having several warranty issues. The...

    HD DVR Died

My DirecTV receiver died Monday evening. Just went black. No lights on front panel no response to pushing buttons or reseting. I tried the unplug for 30 seconds trick too but to no avail. I called DTV and there's a new one on the way. Sadly, everything we had on the DVR is gone.:( I don't...

    Duramax Oil Pressure

So after I had the injectors installed in the spring, the tech asked if I had checked my oil pressure often. Not sure where he was going with this, I said, sure, all the time. he then mentions the oil pressure gauge wasn't working. The scan showed everything was OK and there was in fact oil...

    A/C is acting very strange

I plan on taking it to a dealer but maybe somebody has had the same issue with their A/C. This started a couple months ago and the reason I didn't get it looked at sooner is cause I though the problem went away. When towing, my A/C does not work. Blows hot air no matter what I try. When not...

    Duramax LB7 Smokes at idle

OK all you Duramax experts, I've already received one opinion from a friend so I need a couple more before taking BART to a shop. At idle, I'm getting a pretty excessive amount of exhaust smoke. It's blue in color and smells pretty rich. The idle is smooth and there seems to be no loss of power...

What LNB Set do I need in FL?

I need a little advice from the Florida contingent. Here is WI and most other areas we've been, I have used a DTV Slimline dish with the single headed triple LNB. While down in the RGV of TX, we had to switch over to a 5 LNB. Something about the satellites needed for locals?? My question, what...

    Tire rotation

I'm going to do something today that may be excessive but I think it may lengthen my tire life. We've been reading posts about all four tires wearing on the outside edge and in some cases attribute this to alignment or the axle tube being curved or some other reason all which make perfect sense...

    New Storage Access Door Install

I knew there was an area under the WC where there is a lot of room and houses the converter and other goodies. It's always been something I've had on the back burner to do. While in Goshen at the last rally, I found the perfect door for $3.00. Yes, you heard right. I had to wait for a damp...
