We are going to be ordered a new trailer and when I asked if I could have the mfg. not put on the decals the conversation got dicey. So I am thinking about taking most of them off as soon as I get the rig.
Where we stay the sun destroys the decals in time so I thought that it would make...
Have stated that log in names and passwords from one site to another should not be the same. They have said that a login should not include your name and the passwords should have numbers, symbols and letters AND that they should be changed every 60-90 days. I can change everything but the log...
Same thing happened to me and I did everything I could imagine BUT. Even though the little switch on the side of the water heater was on IT WAS FAULTY and once I replaced it all was fine.
I met a fellow today that said he had the same problem with his 2011 Bighorn. He said that it required an extraction tool of some kind to get it out and he replaced it with a brass fitting.
I don't know the answer to your question but someone else here will. Good Luck. As a follow up my BIGHORN is fixed but I would be embarrassed to tell you what saving Heartland $2 cost me. I have shared a link to this thread with many. GOOD LUCK
The Missus wants me to build a lattice screen across the front and down 1 side of the trailer. The screen must be attached to the concrete but be moveable at the same time.
I am thinking about building a PT frame that would be attached yet remove-able and then screwing the plastic lattice to...
We have a 2009 Bighorn 3055 RL and yesterday I noticed that the vent cover (under the MAXAIR) is cracking and needs replacement.
1. Can you just replace the plastic vent cover?
2. I assume I just remove the MAXAIR and do the job and then replace the MAXAIR. What are the pitfalls?
3 What...
When the wind is blowing the wrong direction the forward air conditioner brings in the rotten eggs smell into the bedroom. I wondering if there is something like a directional vent cover that we might use to cover it.
When I was a kid we had what we called Charlie Nobles over our small chimney...
With some hesitation I report that after replacing the heating element and thermostat I found the problem with the electric side of my water heater. The little switch on the side of the water heater (although switched on) was faulty. After I replaced the switch ($15) I now can turn off the...
FOR NOW it seems like the smell went away when I closed the 2 gray tank valves -- the black tank remains closed when not "dumping". I am not sure if the AC's intake is inside or outside.
Just so I understand are you talking about the front AC that is over the bed? If so there might be a vent nearby but what is the filter that you are talking about? I removed and cleaned the 2 filters on the Penguin but I don't understand about looking up to see light from outside. Thank you...
Well I added a Dometic penguin to the front of my FW and it works just great. 13,500 it should BUT IT STINKS. I called Dometic and they told me it MIGHT be the solution that the copper tubing is dipped in. They said there is no smell to the refrigerant but I might need to clean the excess...
"When you checked for power at the element, did you put your probes across the two screws on the element and read 110-120 volts?"
yes. I'd forget about it until later since we have propane BUT I will be 1300 miles north of the FW for 5 months until I return. So I still have 2 weeks to figure...
There is power to the thermostat and the electric heater element. The 120 thermostat appears to be fine with the fuse bar in tact.
1. the propane side works
2. there is power to the red toggle inside
3. there is power to the 120 thermostat
4. there is power to the electric heating element
5...
Just so I haven't confused anyone including myself; the water heater works fine with propane.
Meanwhile I replaced the electric heating element and it still doesn't work on the electric side SO now I am replacing the thermostat.
What can I mess up here after opening the breaker and being...
I cannot heat the water electrically and I do not have an ohm meter so I had someone pick up an 120 V 2000 W heating element. The original is 3" longer and 1440 Watts.
Are there issues with installing the shorter - higher wattage element??
My DW complained this AM that the water was not "real hot". Yesterday a hot water faucet was left on for about 2 hours while we were gone and the gray tanks were open. So this AM I decided that we should turn the propane on in addition to the electric.
We have only used the electric option...
My 09 Heartland Bighorn came with a Samsung TV that is covered in this CLASS ACTION SUIT.
I received this message from Samsung today:
Dear Valued Customer,
Our records show that you own a Samsung television Model(s). Under a Class Action Settlement,
You might be eligible for a free repair...
Bob, thanks you are absolutely right-it could be a lot worse....I leave my FW cabled to a concrete pad in Florida. I use to keep it next to my shop in NE where I have all the necessary tools.
It could be much worse: I think of the guy on this forum who pulled his Bighorn to Alaska on the...
California's law took effect on 1/1/2011 - my unit left the line on June 2, 2008
Check this link out. I wonder how he feels about "CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT".

I paid $102 to have the brass fitting changed and the mat appears to be glued down. It just burns my *** to think I have to cut the rubber out to make the repair. Add this to a 1) kitchen sink that did not have the catches to hold it under the counter, 2) delaminated wood under the slides that...
I have a section about 12" square that is soft. I feel that by pushing on the rubber mat. So far it appears that I will have to cut that mat out to get to the flooring and here in Florida I have limited tools. I will have to find some kind of job shop to cut a piece of sub floor. This leak...
In the spirit of CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT I will fix the switch like I did the floors in the slides. Then I will move on without drinking the Kool Aid.
Jim, I guess you are saying that Heartland wasn't trying to do nothing more than save $2 per unit WHEN MY 3055 was made. I also guess that a reasonable and informed design staff should not have known that using plastic UNSUPPORTED might and likely would be a problem down the line.
As I...
