Pinbox Frame Flex (Again) in So. Ca.

I have some pictures from when they repaired ours in 2011, claims rep said it was our trailer but was never sure as there were several others in for same repair. Anyhow pictures show 2 large triangular pieces welded in the corners of the overhang and 4 more around the corners of the pinbox...

RV "Newby" concerned after looking at several Used RV's

Same thoughts as Bob except we bought ours used and became "Part Timers" again last year when we bought a house. We have put a lot of miles on our rig and sure have had some problems but I read from others with bought new trailers who have had same issues so...... With all the varieties of...

    Oh Hail!

We had a hail event 2 years ago which resulted in new roofs for both house and trailer. The only piece of plastic left intact on the trailer was the AC cover and 1 large tear on edge of the rubber, probably from a glancing blow. Both the adjuster and I crawled over the roof feeling for damage...

    Hi from Scotland

We have met quite a few Europeans while living/traveling in Mexico and it has always been an interesting discussion on how they settled on the particular RV they were traveling in. Some things to think about that might help in your selection. Are you planning on seeing Canada and Mexico? Or...

Recieving V.A. prescribtions through mail forwarding service question(s)

We have used the Escapees mail service since 2001 and am retired Navy using Express Scripts for meds. It is easy to plan ahead for mail delivery and have never had a problem although it does get a little tricky once you get outside of the U.S.

Got hail damage on front, now what?

Had similar experience 2 years ago here in east Tx. Resulted in a new roof due to tears. Suggest you look carefully at the roof, helped me to have an insurance adjuster look as he found a couple things I had missed.

Warranty repair work at the factory in Elkhart?

We were there in 2011 to get the frame repaired, good experience, great guys to work with and they do good work. Bottom line though is you need to work through Heartland customer service. Suggest you give them a call, have your VIN handy and pictures you can e mail to show the problem.

    Lippert Flex-Air

In 2011 we suffered the "Broken Frame" problem that a lot of others have had to deal with and I wound up having to move the trailer from Utah to the factory. Think I spent most of that trip staring into the rear view expecting to see pieces of trailer scattered over the road. Anyhow got a...

Can a 2006 Ram 3500 Dually pull a Rushmore safely?

We have an early 07 with the 5.9 that I bought used with approx 25K mileage. With the exception of going over hwy 70 into Denver where I was looking for a stray Elk to hitch to the front end it has worked well. The weak link has been the transmission and would have it checked out before...

    Batteries: Type vs. Useful Life

To really answer your question you need to think about how you are using the batteries and how many batteries you have in the rig. If you are mostly always in an RV park and only have the 1 battery then not a real concern. If you spend time off the grid, have more batteries then it's a...

    Marathon Fl CG campground

For those eligible and heading to the keys in Dec. As of this morning there is a 1 week spot open beginning 2 Dec. at the Marathon CG campground (our plans had to change due to family problems). These spots are hard to come by, especially at this late date so thought would post it.

    Bike Carrier Pin Box Adaptor

Easy to build, especially for a level pin box such as this. Things to remember: Leave enough room for bikes to clear front cap and don't go cheap on the bike carrier. My first one failed while on the back of the truck traveling across Ohio, would have been much less good if it had been on the...

    Vented vs Non-vented Washing Machines

Re: Bighorn MSRP We now have about 16 years experience with the Splendid combo unit. Approx 11 years with ventless and 5 years with vented. Jo has fairly significant allergy problems, the first several years she was getting shots in both arms twice a week for it. Bottom line is neither type...

"D" shaped gasket creeps forward out of channel when traveling

Strongly suggest you don't use the adhesive. These gaskets eventually wear out (I just had to replace all mine this year) and with the adhesive it would be difficult to get it back off again. The screws you mention should be placed inside the gasket approx 3/4 inch from the end. If you are...

What causes one tire to cup or feather or whatever this is?

you might want to check the tire size again. Our trailers are 16,000 GVW and with about 3K on the pin it leaves 13K for the axles or in a perfectly balanced trailer about 3,200 per tire. The E rated tire is a little over loaded and with the bad rep Towmax has..... On our trailer (no matter how...

Installed New Dual Motor Landing Gear From Ultra Fab 12000K

I think you may be spending time overthinking this. I installed the second motor 4 years ago and have never felt the need for the "both" switch you left in the circuit. I use the individual switches to get both jacks set and then just hold both rocker switches depending on which direction, up...

Who put that bomb there? Tire help. Blowmax victim. 4100 King

Re: The aftermath - Electrical disaster Bill has the right idea, but another approach that worked for me was to hook a voltmeter to the wires coming from the frame, then turning on circuits till I found one that indicated on the voltmeter and that told me what the wires were for. On my trailer...

Who put that bomb there? Tire help. Blowmax victim. 4100 King

The problem with changing only 1 (assuming your not going with Towmax) is finding a tire with the same dimension so as not to cause an alignment problem. Saliun looks to be close but at least 1 post here says it is an inch taller than the 614's. If you do elect to only get 1 new tire suggest...

Two blow outs on sundance 3400 qb and wow the damage

Just finished re-building after similar problem (1 on each side), Was able to find all needed parts at Heartland and Home Depot, Only downside is shipping from Heartland, especially for large/odd size stuff is pricy. J wrap is a common item and you might find some stocked at a local repair shop.

    Another tire temp question

Hoping for some new ideas here. The tread temp on the rear off door side is running 10-12 degrees higher than the other 3. Hub temps are 2-3 degrees apart, side wall 4-5 but big difference in tread temp. Have had the trailer on the alignment machine twice. Bearings are good and no slop...

Re: 12 volt wireing to kitchen slide on Bighorn 3670 Thanks Jim, had tried that with no luck. Finally just removed everything except the fridge and traced all the wires. While I can't actually prove my findings because the original input wires are alongside the road somewhere this is how the...

12 volt wiring to kitchen slide on Bighorn 3670

Last week we blew a tire that took out all the lines running into the kitchen slide. So far I have been able to sort out the propane and 120 V lines but haven't been able to figure out the 12V. I have a Blue and White wire with 12V at the box on the frame but any connecting wires to the slide...

    Need a little help please

Well we solved the alignment question so maybe I should change this thread to "the old boater group". I understand the cost comparisons, we spent 10 years out of the country on a 52 foot boat where parts are harder to come by but unfortunately for us this trailer hasn't been real cheap either...

    Need a little help please

not Towmax, part of second set of goodyear 614's. Original tires lasted about 600 miles and by then 2 of them had bubbles on the sidewall but that was several years ago. Think maybe alignment as tire wear was uneven but mostly caused by axle problem of a couple years ago. Could have just as...

    Need a little help please

Had a fairly devestating blow out today, took out all electrical and propane to kitchen slide. Not real sure yet what caused the tire to fail but am concerned it could be an alignment problem. Bottom line is I haven't been able to find anyone in the Little Rock or Shreveport areas who does...

Have a solar setup in mind. Thought I'd pass it by my new Heartland family for opinions.

I installed a similar system on our sail boat (home for 15 years, 10 years cruising), Heart inverter/charger and only 120 watt panels and a 6kw diesel gen set but essentially similar system. Had originally thought to do same for the trailer but due to early $ problems I put it off and am now...
