Ford F-350 srw rim load ratings

We are a bit lighter with the Augusta and with just shy of 80K towing no issues with the 20" SRW from Ford. I bought a second set as over the years I have worn out many alloy wheels while towing. Gave them a good inspection when installing new Michelins at 55K and they are holding up very well...

    GooseNeck hook up on truck

We have GN hitches on everything, and use a Tennis ball on a telescoping magnetic mount placed directly on top of the ball in the bed. Works great for fast hitching by yourself. We typicaly dont have more than one person operating a trailer tower no matter what we are hauling or towing. We do...

    Synthetic oil

We run synthetic in all the engines and never change oil by the odometer, only by hours or computers. Engines cost way to much to not use a superior product. You guys dont know what severe service is unless you have spent a few months on a farm or ranch. Going down the road towing a camper is...

    Two Batteries in Parallel Questions

We run two AGM 12v batteries and it has worked very well. About $200 each for a C31. No issues in 5 years. We gave up 6 volt batteries back in the 60's

    F350, 2013, 6.7, new sound

Our local utility has a fleet of 6.7's that idle for most of the day due to equipment they are using and to keep the guys cool or warm as needed when they take breaks. They havent had any issues yet and some of them are getting quite a few hours on them. A nice feature is that you can check the...

    wheel chocks

They are the best thing out there for stability, tighten them up until you can see the tire deflect a bit The tire is made to deflect or it would be made of steel.

ATF: Landmark - Clogged Bathroom sink

Use a zipper tool, works extremely well and is fast. Very good for sinks or drains that get a lot of hair as well.

    The fridge-fix

We added Insulation to the top of the fridge and a baffle. Helped quiet a bit and larger fans are next.

    wheel chocks

The scissor wheel chock is the best money you can spend to stabilize a camper.

    Do Water Hoses Go Bad?

If your hose is outside most of the year and if used quite a bit the hose will break down. Organic chemicals and chlorine work on the hose. Buy the new one at least every other year and never use a garden hose.

    Bighorn - Tire wear

    Absolutely right. Or overloaded.

    Storage life of Diesel

Millions of high dollar combines and other powered farm equipment sits from Fall to Summer every year with no issues. That is what filters and water separators are for.

    Over capacity with 3500 srw

You aren't going to solve those issues other than tires unless you go on up to a 4500

    towing

That is correct. Most states require brakes now on all towed trailers. They just don't enforce it until there Is an accident or safety lane stop.

    8000# Axle

We have 8K axles, 7K don't leave any margin which is why most of them sag, ride is better and safety is much improved due to less sway when passing or meeting trucks in windy conditions, have Air equalizers also Breaking is at least 100% better as well I would never tow a large camper with 7K...

Are all hitches the same ?????

Get a goose box and you will be very happy

    how much tire presure

No one with many trailers and varying loads changes their tire pressure accordingly. There are more reasons to run the stated PSIG rather than a lower value.

    Hitch Pin

We have had several including Mor Ryde. Currently use a Goose Box. Air has always been a little smoother but they were all better than steel only

    Missing axle cap.

Sounds like a very serious quality control issue. How **** blind do you have to be to miss the caps on inspection? Should you really have that job?

ATF: Road Warrior - RW 420

We have a fleet of Fords including a F550. Have to agree with you. I don't like to turn the engine over more than necessary. Towing with the 550 we are at 2400 versus 1600 with the 3:55

    Purging ez lube hubs

Some good advice here, if your hubs are hot under normal driving conditions you either have a dragging brake, or a serious bearing issue

    Goodyear H-rated G114's blow out

Re: Goodyear H-rated G-114's blow out I would be surprised if the tire wasn't hot when you changed it. Was it cool or at what would be road temperature? If there was a defect that caused it to just shred then most likely there would be many others out there that would have done the same thing...

    Goodyear H-rated G114's blow out

Re: Goodyear H-rated G-114's blow out The photo you shared would indicate the tire was running at a low air pressure long enough for it to heat up and fail. Interesting that the TST locked in, I personally would never trust that sensor on a tire on the road. I have some 114 that are many years...

8000 lb. axle (bearings & seals)

We have over 30k on our 8K axles, spin and grease once per year and check the play. They are heavy enough that I expect them to go at least 50K before pulling them apart and checking the bearings. If a large amount of play would develop then it would happen at that point. Great upgrade and what...

    Towing bighorn 3570 2015 F350 6.5 box

We have towed with many short bed Fords, the only thing is if you have a tool box cross bed with normal height you have to watch that on tight turns. Use the low profile box and you should be fine.

    Bearing Maintenance Urgency?

I always jack up the wheels of all our trailers, usually annually, to check the bearing play and to give the easy lube some grease while spinning the wheel. If the play is OK you are good to travel.

Ram 3500 vs Ford F350 Highway MPG Comparison - TFL Truck Review

What will be truly interesting is when the pair travel the same routes with similar campers and we get a real comparison. Most of the earlier F350's came out with 3.55 as has mine.

Towing 39' or 41'? Does it make a difference?

I think you made a good choice. We didn't notice any difference towing from our Yellowstone to the Augusta. Parking, turning, camp sites as the others noted are the major thing to watch.

Another high end manufacturer bites the dust!!

Our home in NE is just 40 miles away from Smith Center. Sad for a county that has just lost its largest retailer as well. Population is dropping rapidly in the Northern Tier of KS and Southern Tier of Counties in NE. Going to be a major economic impact there.

Yet another wheel bearing packing question

The EZ lube is all we use on all trailers unless they are oil bath. 10K axles and up are almost all oil bath. Jack up the tire and spin it slowly while adding grease. If it is the first time it will take about a tube of grease for all four wheels. If you keep the wheel spinning you will never...

Thinking of a second air in the bedroom

We installed the second unit as it is impossible to keep the coach cool on 100 degree days with only one unit. Also help the fridge keep up if you can maintain the coach temperature. Went with Dometic so it matches the factory original and we can have common parts. Took me two hours to install...
